Reflections - First Listen

Reflections took shape as most of my music does, from long sessions of experimentation. This one was sparked by and effect patch called Tunod on my synth/sound processor; Organelle. It’s quite a complicated patch, but given enough trial and error you can get really lush, drawn-out delays. I ran some piano chords and synths through it to create the atmospheric bed that runs under the whole track and then built everything else up from there.

This track really started to feel like an exploration into trying to sonically recreate the feel of open space and being outside so I sifted through my field recordings and found one from Whitstable of boat sail lines rattling against their masts.

Finally, the track is grounded with 4x4 drums and a nice subby bass and lifted up with intertwining melodies and percussive rhythms. Hit the link below to hear Reflections for yourself:

And Is Phi - Songs for Love and Rage

And Is Phi will be celebrating the release of her Twice Blushed EP at Peckham Levels on the 28th of February. She will be performing live with a band of incredible people and I will be DJing on the night!

Inspired by time spent purposefully outside of music industry pressures and timelines, and following more natural urges, Andrea will be creating a space where it's ok to be joyful; ok to be angry - embracing both to find harmony in the difference. This is about what's necessary for resilience in being an artist in London today. Come and step inside, and let’s use winter to gather, feel and move together.
